Resentments: How to Identify and Let Go

Resentments: Identifying Underlying Emotion

In this Wisdom Wednesday question offered by a listener, Alisha shares a personal experience, aligned with a fairy tale, about resentments within her life.

Alisha points out that we are often unaware of an underlying emotion. And that what we need to do is to go deeper within to identify the pain. To help remove the angry or hateful feelings often associated with resentment, Alisha describes the steps one can take to help replace resentments with self love, understanding and ultimately letting go.

Q: I’ve noticed that I have been feeling a lot of resentment lately, and it feels awful. What do you think really causes those feelings and how can I get rid of it?

A: Listen now as Alisha Olivier Park answers this question related to resentments:

The Process of Letting Go of Resentments

Many of us have experienced (or hold on to) this feeling of resentment toward people close to us: spouse, family member, friend or co-worker. And it’s not a good feeling.

PAIN (as in resentments) =  Pay Attention Inside Now

In guiding people through this type of pain, Alisha suggests:

  1. Be Aware
  2. Remove Judgment – of others and self
  3. Consider the emotion that lays underneath
  4. Let go
